"Itne bade ho gaye ho, thoda mature ho jaao."
A statement we often hear in Indian households, especially from our elders. But I wonder-does age really define maturity? Or more importantly, can we ever reach a point where we've learned enough to handle every situation life throws at us?
I am not really sure. Life is so uncertain that it's almost impossible to be 100% prepared for everything. Even in domains we've been part of for years, there will always be moments that make us pause and think, "Ab iss mein karna kya hai?"
The moment you think you've figured it all out, life tosses a bouncer your way, and you start feeling like an Indian batsman on an Australian pitch-fumbling, trying everything possible just to avoid getting out. Sometimes things get so tricky that you begin to question whether you even know anything about life at all or if you're just a lost kid hoping to escape.
But maybe that's just the other extreme.
I guess the only mantra worth remembering is : Every day is Day 1. You just have to try, figure things out, fail, learn, and try again.
I know-it's easier said than done. Facing uncertainties is not an easy task, especially when they strike at your deepest fears and weaknesses. Even when you summon the courage to confront them, failure can make starting over feel like the hardest thing in the world.
It's okay to feel down and sad in moments like those. But eventually, you'll need to pick yourself up and start again from zero. Because that's what life is all about.
You'll need to keep going through this loop again and again as long as you're alive. While you may never reach a point where you know it all, you'll eventually reach a stage where you're no longer afraid or exhausted by the process.
And maybe that's what true maturity really is - embracing the cycle, not escaping it !
